The vineyards that surround the city of Bordeaux enjoy worldwide recognition for the quality of their wines. But the same cannot be said for their websites. For centuries, the region’s châteaux were able to trade on reputation alone with few resources devoted to marketing. However, the emergence of new world wines has been a game-changer and today, Château CLINET is one of a number of local producers looking to embrace modern marketing strategies in order to gain a competitive advantage.
Cyan met with Château CLINET to discuss its objectives for the site. Owner, Ronan Laborde, is a wine enthusiast first and a graduate from one of Paris’ most renowned business management schools second, and these two distinct influences played into the brief we were given.
Cyan was asked to create a modern web design that enabled social media integration and a dynamic blog that would help Château CLINET to reach out to a growing international community of clients and collectors. The unique challenge which emerged was to retain a strong sense of history and heritage within a modern site whose technical functionality needed to be absolutely leading edge.
